Nice quiz Daniel! I liked the humorous tone. I got a 9 out of 10, yay! :)
I must say, however, that question 7 (the only one I didn't got right) is a little tricky. If done correctly, just "grabbing a camcorder and start shooting" can produce some engaging videos. In my experience as Community Manager for Royal Resorts (www.royalresorts.com), I've found that the videos that yield the most interaction from our Facebook fans are always the fan-made videos. Nothing fancy, no big productions.

Having said that, I do agree though that having professional videos produced is also a requirement and should be displayed on the main websites.
Thanks, I've been a loyal reader for a while! I've learned a lot from your TripAdvisor materials. :)

    • Hola Camilo! I agree, fan-made videos can be very engaging and can/should be spontaneous. But as for hotel-made productions I think staff should at least have a basic storyboard and script before they start shooting. Congrats on the score – muy bien hecho! DC

  3. I suppose there is a serious point, though it's obvious what the "right" answers are supposed to be. Quite funny, though.

  4. Daniel,
As always both informative and entertaining. A rare combination. I'm bummed I only got 9 out of 10 which kept me from becoming a Social Whiz Kid.
I do however think the answer to #7 could be either 3 or 4 depending on budget. A small property just doesn't have the budget to hire a production company, but they can produce some good YouTube worthy video content with a FlipVideo camera or iPhone.
Lots of fun though and thanks for the diversion. We all need it occasionally. Keep up the good work!

    All the best,

    Madigan

    • Thanks Madison – glad you enjoyed! You’re right, the quiz is meant to be for fun more than anything. And yes, #7 is a bit ambiguous. But I’ve yet to see great content produced by hotels with a Flip or iPhone. If you come across any examples, I’d love to see them. Until then, I’ll have to hold my ground on “Hire a professional”. But you’re a social media whiz kid in my eyes nonetheless. And likewise re your Hospitality Marketing Blog. Your recent “Is Your Hotel Ready for Google+” article is a good complement to my “Google is Going Places” article – we should have teamed up! http://blog.madiganpratt.com/

    Daniel,
Thank you for your help the other day, but I am going mental trying to find the proper department at Tripadvisor.

The survey was very interesting, but it marked me incorrect on #8…2 is the correct answer, isn't it?

    Thanks again!

    Ben
