Recently, I’ve been hard at work writing a guide to online reputation management for tourism operators in British Columbia, and I’m happy to say it’s now available.
Tourism BC produces a series of guides, Tourism Business Essentials, created for tourism operators in British Columbia. The guides are free, practical resources covering topics such as The Fundamentals for Tourism Businesses, Sustainable Tourism and Sport Tourism.
On behalf of Tourism British Columbia, I was responsible for writing the most recent guide, Online Reputation Management - a topic that is growing in popularity and importance to the tourism industry.
As guest speaker at the recent Regional Tourism Leaders Forum for the Vancouver, Coast and Mountains tourism region earlier this month, I presented highlights from the guide to a group of keen operators from the area, along with examples of effective social media and online reputation management activities. No question, reputation management is a hot topic in the tourism industry.

Great presentation today. Very interested in discussing opportunity to coach our vendor hotels in Whistler. We are releasing this month a private label interface with Trip Advisor where the reviews are integrated into our eCommerce engine. We will be generating review for the hotels through our post visit emails. I want to ensure they are managing to the best of their ability. Most all of the hotels are already responding to reviews but could do better. The document should help. I will be at the conference for the next couple of days and will try to reach out to you.
Thanks,
Erik Austin
